Thanks to the project LC-SE (Language College – Section Européenne,) Elliott School and Claude Chappe started a partnership in January 2003.
Elliott School is situated in Putney, London. ( www. Elliott-school.org.uk)
We started an email correspondence and have been working on very humble projects so far. Claude Chappe shot a film to introduce the pupils, the school, and the neighbourhood before Elliott’s students came to visit us in June 2004.
The English students arrived after lunch, met the students, and then went to a lesson with French teachers. They spent the night at a youth hostel. The day after, we visited a few monuments together.
This year, the 4D is writing two stories, one in French and one in English : we have started to write about five sentences of each, and the English students will go on with five more sentences. We will be writing in turns until the story is finished. The English students will correct and explain our mistakes in English, and the French students will do the same if there are mistakes in French.
Here is an example of what two students wrote in 2003. The task was different since they had to associate words with their personal family background and explain.

J’aime les revolvers parce que quand j’étais en Afghanistan mon père en avait un.

J’aime ma petite voiture parce que quand c’était mon deuxième anniversaire mon oncle m’ en a donné une.

J’aime la soie parce que ma mère fait les écharpes avec.

J’aime ma mère parce qu’elle est speciale pour moi.

J’aime la dionée parce que quand j’avais huit ans mon père en a acheté une pour ma mère.

J’aime l’arbre de nôel parce que quand j’étais petit toujours je demandais à mon père de m’en acheter un, mais il ne l’a pas fait.

J’aime le curry avec du riz parce que c’est savoureux et c’est un plat traditionnel.
Des Vêtements
J’aime un manteau à capuche parce que quand j’étais petit j'en avais beaucoup, mais ma mère les déteste.

ME :
I was born in Laxou (Meurthe-et-Moselle, Lorraine) on september, 19th, 1989. I used to live in a very little apartment with my parents. I remember strange songs of our ex-neighbours who were in a sect ! I moved to Paris when I was 3 and now I have 2 sisters who are 9 and 7.
A Colour
GREEN :
Green because that is the colour of nature and of the big forest which is where I was born. That reminds me of the beautiful walks I had when I lived there and even after.
A Tree
CHERRY PLUM TREE :
This tree grows in aboundance in my native region. Its fruits are delicious and we
can eat them in pies, in marmalades and row of course. We can also drink it in alcohol.
A Meal

As there are a lot of Cherry Plum trees, in my native region, there is a lot of Cherry plums ! So the cherry plum pie is the speciality. I wonder how many pies I ate !
A Monument
THE EIFFEL TOWER
Now I live in Paris and we can see the Eiffel tower everywhere in paris. Many tourists come to see it because this is the must ! But this is not my favourite monument.
A Smell
THE SMELL OF POLLUTION
There aren’t only good things in Paris : there is pollution. Everywhere you go, you can smell this smell, and sometimes, you can’t speak because of a throat ache.
A Piece of Music
ALTERNATIVE ROCK
This is my favourite music. This doesn’t come from my native region but I like it very much. Particularly the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana or The Offspring.
A Flower
TULIP
This is my favourite flower because of its colours. This doesn’t grow where I was born but I love it. I think there is no explanation !
